the long walk homeThe cold was the worst part. Worse than the smell, worse than the sounds, worse even than the fear itself. The cold had a way of passing right through him, as he walked briskly home from work. The wind off the marina shot up straight from the docks, carrying with it the stink of dead fish. Icy gusts blew hard into his right ear, and he could almost swear he heard the ghosts of those long dead fish whispering to him, of injustices long forgotten, too terrible to recount. He shivered, and drew the flimsy winter coat tighter around himself. The wind cut through it cruelly, and hethe long walk home

I didn’t think it would matter that my shoelaces were untied, but I fell right to the ground. One woodchip stabbed me in the chest, another sliced my lip. This was the most pain I had ever felt without you. I picked up the guilty chips and began to crack them down the middle, I was so angry at those woodchips. I threw the doubled amount of chips beneath my feet and stomped over them.
